Lesson II: Trap Cards Empty
PostSubject: Lesson II: Trap Cards   Lesson II: Trap Cards I_icon_minitimeWed Dec 18, 2013 5:39 pm

For reference: I am using this site for most of my generic information

Normal Trap Cards: These are most trap cards you will find, and are the most common. These can be activated in response to spell cards, monster summons, effect activations, etc. These are referred to as Spell Speed 1 effects, normal traps are Spell Speed 2. Some of them become equip cards after activation, but all trap cards must still be activated ONLY under the conditions listed on the trap card. Spell speed 2 effects can ALSO be activated in response to spell speed 2, including quickplay spell cards and normal trap cards.

Continuous Trap Cards: Continuous Trap Cards are also spell speed 2, and as such can be activated in response to normal traps, or any spell speed 1 effect. The most notable example of this is Royal Decree, which negates all OTHER traps on the field. These traps stay active as long as they are face-up on the field, and SOME continuous traps can be used to summon monsters.

Counter-Trap Cards: You don't see these very often, but they are spell speed 3, and can be activated in response to ANYTHING. The most common example is Seven Tools of the Bandit, which negates another trap card. Royal Decree cannot be activated in response to these, nor any other trap card EXCEPT another counter trap card.

This concludes our lesson on trap cards, so now for the homework:

Play a duel (with someone from Slazer, or a random match) in which you use one of each kind of trap card, and post screenshots of each. Extra credit if you can make the other player groan in response to one of their activations. Very Happy

Do they have to be in the same duel?

Same duel is preferred, but since it is (Almost) impossible to control draws, it is acceptable to be in separate duels. If the trap targets, make sure to highlight the target of the trap.
